Autopilot Fenix

Fenix is integrated with OpenCPN, it means that both systems can send / receive NMEA messages and react in consequence.

Fenix also implements a boat heading Simulation Mode that, jointly with a ShipDriver “modified version” can simulate a boat course based on speed and rudder angle. This is useful to test the autopilot before installation on the boat.

The user interface of Fenix Autopilot is an Android App, not an OpenCPN plugin as Pypilot. Android App communicates to Fenix through Bluetooth. The phone screen you can see in the videos is not an OpenCPN window but a image of my real mobile phone (just if this was not clear).

Hope this clarifies why there is no github software for an hypotetical “Fenix plugin”. However, I have in mind developing a plugin to enable user to access complete autopilot configuration capabilities. The App is mainly focused on autopilot operational use.

This video also shows how to install the App in the mobile.
